The US-95 corridor is a vital route for both commerce and seasonal recreationists. The goal of the project was to provide an interim solution to improve safety and mobility until the completion of an Idaho Transportation Department corridor study is fully accomplished. The project requirements included an accelerated design schedule within a 10-month period to meet the desired construction schedule.
Shannon & Wilson served as the geotechnical engineer for this project, providing recommendations and design for a planned mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall, drainage, traffic signal installation, and an overall widened pavement structure. Our team mobilized personnel from our Coeur d’Alene and Boise offices as well as specialized data collection and drilling equipment to collect subsurface data to aid in the analysis and design. Shannon & Wilson also collaborated with the design team to develop an economical design for a pavement mill and inlay with minimal material waste.
