Ryan joined Shannon & Wilson in 2006. His technical and field services for geotechnical projects take him to some of the most rugged and remote areas of Alaska. His diverse projects require assorted field exploration methods including track mounted drill rigs, offshore drilling from jack-up and floating platforms, and remote helicopter work. Ryan's field experience includes geotechnical and geologic site reconnaissance, soil and rock borehole logging, surface and subsurface soil sampling, in-situ soil condition testing, water level monitoring, aquifer testing, and environmental field screening and sampling.
Ryan's experience and familiarity with conditions throughout Alaska provide a strong base for project scoping, execution, and managing geotechnical projects. He provides geotechnical engineering analyses and technical writing related to deep and shallow foundation design, frost protected shallow foundations, slope stability evaluations, and roadway structural section design. Ryan also regularly attends workshops for rock slope reinforcement and dewatering evaluations.
