Gus Kays has 18 years of water resources engineering experience and leads the Shannon & Wilson’s Hydrologic & Hydraulics group. He has worked on a multitude of coastal and stream channel restoration and flood risk reduction, and culvert and bridge replacement projects. His technical experience encompasses the alternatives development, hydraulic and hydrologic studies, design, plan and specification preparation, and construction management.
During his career, Gus’s project experience includes over $130 million dollars in constructed stream, river and coastal projects as the design lead/engineer of record, providing construction support and/or construction management, and project management. This experience ranges from $200,000 projects to $20,000,000 projects giving Gus a broad understanding of the suite of opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities associated with a wide range of project efforts. All of these projects included alternative analysis, hydraulic and hydrologic analysis, critical areas permitting, as well as contract document production, working with a team of project leads, subconsultants, contractors and a wide range of regional clients. Gus is often tapped as a resource for constructability review and construction support, drawing on experience as an engineer as well as his time working in the construction industry.
