Rick Chen has 13 years of geotechnical experience in the San Francisco Bay Area on a wide variety of projects, including marsh restorations, foundation designs, subsurface explorations (on-shore and off-shore), and field instrumentation programs. He has performed settlement and stability analysis of levees in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, conducted site response analysis, evaluated liquefaction potential, and designed a geosynthetic reinforced wall for an intake structure. He has performed pile foundation designs for commercial buildings, industrial fluid storage tanks, and wharf replacement projects. He is also experienced in engineering analyses using 2-D and 3-D numerical modeling to simulate seepage and groundwater flow. He has also served as the on-site field engineer during pile driving for wharf replacement projects and during the construction of levee rehabilitation projects.
